This project was inspired by a photo my Dad took of a building in Regensburg, Germany. At first, it just started off as this wall. Soon, after I thought it needed a human touch, so I added an observer in the window.
Then I got the idea to make it a tropical resort and added some tropical plants (Lisa's Botanicals - Palm Trees). The reflected beach is a quick and dirty Terragen image. The couple here is on their honeymoon.

Large version (1200x960) here.

Close up view of the couple.
Resort Laerton is frequented by the rich and powerful -- CEOs, celebrities, politicians, and the like. It is a place where deals are made and broken. Much intrigue and excitement abound. You never know who you will run into at Resort Laerton.
Resort Laerton boasts the finest cuisine on the island. The three chefs (certified by Le Cordon Bleu) prepare the most delicious feasts, served in the terrace restaurant.
The large pool is perfect for a leisurely swim, a friendly game of volleyball, or just relaxing in the sun.

Technical Stuff
The resort and pool area were modelled in POV-Ray, based on a number of "inspiration" photos from Google Images.

The people were posed and clothed in DAZ|Studio and converted to mesh2 using PoseRay, The palm trees, lounge chairs and volleyball net were similarly exported from DAZ|Studio (the latter two were DAZ freebies!)

The trees and flowers are mostly from Lisa Buckalew. Again, using PoseRay, I created a number of individual plants for use in POV-Ray. Next, I wrote a macro to populate the flowerbed using the eval_pigment method to place the flowers (clumping similar species together). In addition, each flower instance is randomly scaled and rotated. I forget how long it took to render (something like 18 hours at 1290x1024).
